Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of patients through our healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate examination and treatment of patients in a culturally sensitive manner with exceptional customer service.
  • Contribute to patient care by preparing patients for visits, performing limited procedures, scheduling diagnostic tests or consults, maintaining patient records, and organizing clinic/exam rooms.
  • Assist physicians, nurses, and other medical staff with special procedures and examinations as defined on competency checklists.
  • Collaborate with members of the healthcare team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care.
  • Electronically submit, call, or fax prescriptions and refills to outpatient pharmacies.
  • Maintain medical records, ensuring all required documentation is available in the medical record.
  • Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests, procedures, and medications, processing insurance forms, and preparing financial records.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification within 14 days
