Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Facility Services, the General Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of minor mechanical tasks in repair, servicing, and general maintenance of the hospital physical plant, equipment, and grounds.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hospital equipment and facilities
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of new equipment and systems
  • Conduct inspections and tests to identify and report any issues or defects
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in maintenance operations
Requirements
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Previous hospital maintenance experience or experience as a fireman, policeman, or watchman
  • Nonviolent crisis intervention training
  • Ability to possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
