Tidewater Community College is a leading provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, serving students and employers for 50 years. With 4 campuses, 7 regional centers, and 2 cultural institutions, the college has grown into a regional educational and economic force.
The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in welding, utilizing their expertise and training to create a learning environment that fosters student acquisition of knowledge and skills. The instructor will align course activities with student learning outcomes, employ active learning strategies, and provide prompt and meaningful feedback to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes
- Conduct meaningful and timely assessments of student learning
- Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferably an Associate degree or equivalent in Welding
- Five years of current occupational experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems
Additional Considerations:
- Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources
