Role Summary:

The Engineering Manager for Turbine Aerodynamics plays a crucial role in our organization, responsible for leading a talented team of aerodynamic specialists based in the United States. This team is engaged in the pioneering design and development of state-of-the-art aerodynamic components tailored for commercial turbomachinery. The role encompasses guiding the team through the complete engine design lifecycle, including:
  • New Technology Introduction (NTI): Focusing on early-stage technological advancements.
  • Pre-New Product Introduction (NPI): Conducting initial assessments and strategic planning.
  • Full NPI Process: Overseeing the launch of new products.
  • Ongoing Support: Providing continuous assistance for existing products.
This multifaceted role ensures that the team remains at the forefront of aerodynamic innovation, significantly enhancing the performance and reliability of turbomachinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Development: Inspire and guide the Turbine Aerodynamics team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration aligned with organizational and client objectives.
  • Project and Resource Management: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to establish project budgets, allocate resources, and define milestones and timelines for both technological and programmatic initiatives.
  • Execution and Accountability: Ensure the team effectively prioritizes tasks and meets project deadlines, maintaining accountability for deliverables to stakeholders.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with team members, leadership, clients, and related disciplines to ensure clarity and transparency.
  • Talent Development: Promote initiatives for talent growth, aligning team capabilities with product development requirements and supporting career progression.
  • Advocacy for Improvement: Champion safety, quality, and diversity values; promote a culture of continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the aviation sector.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience with direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in engineering with a focus on turbine aerodynamics.
  • 10+ years of experience in turbine aerodynamics design or a related area.
  • Proficiency in aerodynamic design tools and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Experience in leading aerodynamic design and technology development projects.
  • Familiarity with FLIGHT DECK or similar lean methodologies.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary, global teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
