Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Data Abstractor Specialist to join our team at White Plains Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for abstracting and analyzing cancer data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Abstract complex cancer data from pathology reports, radiation oncology records, and electronic medical records.
  • Apply defensive abstracting techniques to ensure data integrity.
  • Validate abstracts using approved edits software to ensure zero errors.
  • Analyze and interpret cancer data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain necessary information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient data.

Requirements:

  • Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification by the National Cancer Registrar Association.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as medical terminology.
  • Experience working with computers and data entry systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum four years of abstracting experience, with expertise in abstracting and coding rules.

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
