Job Overview

The role involves managing, loading, and unloading various products and materials for storage and distribution purposes. Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained on the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, load, unload, count, weigh, measure, label, and store materials from freight vehicles.
  • Utilize appropriate material handling tools and equipment, including manual handling, hand trucks, pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts.
  • Open and unpack crates, boxes, cartons, and other containers using various tools.
  • Secure materials on pallets for distribution through wrapping and sealing.
  • Sort and stack items such as clothing, fertilizers, tools, garden supplies, machinery, and other products.
  • Report any discrepancies in receiving to the designated supervisor or manager.
  • Manage reusable items and dispose of waste using compactors or baling machines.
  • Assist in truck spotting, freight checking, and checking in inbound freight.
  • Help maintain an accurate inventory of stock as it is received or issued, including stock rotation.
  • Assess damage to shipments received and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Restock shelves and maintain maximum inventory levels on the sales floor.
  • Keep work areas clean and maintain equipment in an orderly fashion.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience as a Material Handler with knowledge of inventory systems and storage methods is preferred.

Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED required. Forklift certification is preferred but not mandatory. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is necessary.

Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting of 25 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is necessary. Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, actively moving merchandise and participating in resets and remodels.
