This role involves assessing and treating patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma in collaboration with a physician. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing chronic illness care in partnership with physicians
- Diagnosing and treating a wide range of healthcare issues
- Educating patients and families on preventive care, treatment plans, and medication use
- Maintaining accurate and confidential medical records
- Conducting Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
- Prescribing medications within your scope of practice
- Promoting preventive and health maintenance care through patient education and counseling
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Licensure: Current certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) or Physician Assistant (PANCE)
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in primary or urgent care
- Skills: Proficient in using EMR systems, flexible with weekends and holidays, excellent communication skills, and a positive, patient-first attitude
