Job Overview



The Medical Care Specialist at DCH provides exceptional patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of nursing practice and fostering positive therapeutic relationships with patients and their families. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and possess a strong commitment to delivering compassionate care.

Responsibilities



• Collects and documents patient data on an ongoing basis, including vital signs, behavioral, psychological, developmental, and age-related factors.
• Performs basic and advanced nursing tasks as appropriate for the department/unit, records and reports all observed abnormal findings to the RN.
• Provides patient education based on physical, behavioral, psychological, developmental, and age-related factors, after identifying barriers to learning.
• Documents all patient care activities and/or observations according to policies and procedures.

Requirements



• Current Alabama LPN License required
• Basic computer skills to support electronic medical record, email, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet.
• Previous experience as a paramedic and in direct patient care setting preferred.
• Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Working Conditions



• May be exposed to human body fluids, disease, infection, lab chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Requires wearing common protective and safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, mask, gowns, etc.
• Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Salary Range



$45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
