Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare providers in delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, documenting chief complaints and vital signs in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Obtain patient histories and accurately record them in the EMR.
  • Assist with patient exams, procedures, and collection of specimens as assigned.
  • Retrieve laboratory and radiology test results and instruct patients on medications and treatment per physician's instructions.
  • Administer injections safely and stock supplies, preparing exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and refer as necessary, calling patients to follow up and/or schedule appointments.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MA Certification from the AAMA, NCCT, NHA, or RMA, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Healthcare provider level CPR/BLS certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems.
