Position Overview
The City of Baytown is in search of a Senior Financial Analyst to enhance and manage our budgeting processes. This pivotal role involves the development, execution, and oversight of our financial plans to ensure sustainable growth and fiscal health.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Development: Collaborate in the creation of the annual operating and capital budgets, while also managing quarterly amendments. Act as a liaison between departments and management to achieve budgetary goals.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of financial transactions and prepare comprehensive reports for quarterly and annual assessments. Develop complex statistical forecasting models to aid in financial decision-making.
- Interdepartmental Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with all departments regarding financial matters, assisting with budget transfers and generating necessary journal entries.
- Position Control Management: Oversee and coordinate position control data across departments to ensure accurate payroll and human resources information.
- Additional Duties: Engage in special projects as required and perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Two years of experience in budgeting, finance, or a related area.
Preferred:
- Five years of direct experience in budget and management analysis.
- Prior experience in municipal finance.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with various stakeholders. Attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential. Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software is required, along with a foundational understanding of accounting principles.
