Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CDL Driver to join our team at Franklin Park. As a Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for safely transporting residents on routine scheduled shopping excursions, appointments, and other outings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and comply with all safety regulations and requirements at all times.
  • Schedule and maintain routine preventative maintenance for vehicles and ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicles, both inside and out.
  • Assist in gathering residents before and during outings and ensure their safety at all times.
  • Keep accurate records and schedules of individual resident requests.
  • Calculate group trip costs, obtain charge paperwork from residents, and forward billing to the Business Office Manager.
  • Record mileage and maintain a vehicle log.
  • Track gas purchases and submit bills to the Director of Maintenance or supervisor as directed.
  • Maintain a First Aid kit and perform specific work duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and/or Director of Life Enrichment.
  • Exhibit a courteous and helpful demeanor at all times to provide attentiveness and respect to our residents and team members.
  • Ensure all residents and passengers are safely buckled in their seats when transporting.
  • Understand and follow protocol for reporting accidents and incidents to proper authorities when necessary.
  • Understand that talking or texting and using personal music devices while driving is prohibited.
  • Encourage teamwork and promote company philosophy.
  • Attend required community meetings.
  • Be punctual and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular and predictable basis.
  • Become familiar with and understand the steps for fire evacuation.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all community residents.
Requirements
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to load and unload wheelchair-dependent residents in a safe, caring, and courteous manner.
  • Exceptional knowledge of all aspects of safe driving is required.
  • High school education is required.
  • Class B license is preferred.
  • Must have a driving record acceptable to the company insurance carrier.
  • Minimum one-year experience is preferred.
  • Must possess good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, push, climb, and/or balance, stoop or kneel up to eight hours a day.
  • Frequently support up to 70 pounds.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc. throughout the work day.
Work Schedule
  • 20 hours a week, primarily weekdays.
  • Flexible schedule.
