Radiologic Technologist Job Description

This position is a key member of the Cleveland Clinic team, working alongside dedicated caregivers to provide patient-first healthcare. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for exams, operating imaging equipment, and obtaining high-quality images while minimizing radiation dose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology.
  • Regulate and operate equipment, including x-ray machines and fluoroscopy units.
  • Review prep information with patients, explain the procedure, and obtain written consent.
  • Document pertinent clinical patient information, such as medical history and allergies.
  • Demonstrate a calm and understanding approach to ease any fear or anxiety.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) certification.
  • Florida licensed as a General Radiographer (RAD).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires a mixture of moderate to heavy work, including frequent walking, sitting, and standing, as well as frequent use of the phone, computer, and fax machines.

Mental Demands:

The Radiologic Technologist must be able to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments, and respond to numerous requests while maintaining a calm and understanding approach.

Confidentiality:

The employee will have limited access to the medical record for the purpose of verifying orders and signing off after exam completion.

Personal Protective Equipment:

The employee will follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
