PhD Polymer Synthesis Chemist

Join our team of experts in polymer synthesis and development as a PhD Polymer Synthesis Chemist. In this role, you will be responsible for exploring novel polymer additive development, working in a cross-functional team with a strong Interfacial Surface Science group to create new polymeric surfactants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex and/or non-standard research, development, and/or performance testing activities to meet stated objectives of the Technology Development team.
  • Use theory and mechanism to drive innovation, and may act as overall or technical project lead and direct the work of other technical team members assigned to the project.
  • Develop fundamental understanding of lubricating oil performance, including developing structure/function relationships of componentry, reaction kinetics, dose-response relationships, and other mechanistic tools to deepen our understanding of our products.
  • Evaluate and interpret data, performance, and deliverables, and provide recommendations to R&D and project leaders regarding results, deliverables, progress and challenges.
  • Participate in technical and/or project reviews and present findings as appropriate, and engage with assigned teams and cross-functional stakeholders, such as business, process, marketing, etc.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Polymer Science or related field.
  • Strong background in polymer synthesis and characterization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and lead projects as needed.
