Position Overview:

We are seeking a Dog Trainer to join our team.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop individualized training plans for dogs.
  • Instruct both dogs and their owners on commands.
  • Exhibit patience when working with challenging dogs.
  • Educate pet owners about canine behavior.
  • Assess and understand the needs of pet owners.
  • Collaborate with pet owners to enhance their understanding of their dogs.
  • Guide pet owners in reinforcing positive behaviors.
  • Address concerns raised by pet owners.
  • Provide additional services as required.
  • Adhere to safety protocols for handling pets.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Expertise & Experience:
  • A genuine passion for pets is essential.
  • A minimum of one year of professional dog training experience is required.
  • Training certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various dog commands is necessary.
  • Knowledge of different dog breeds is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills with clients are a must.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to identify behavioral issues in pets.
  • Skill in creating actionable plans for pet owners.
  • CGC Evaluator or AKC Evaluator credentials are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Capability to remain on feet for the duration of shifts.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs are required.
  • Comfortable handling dogs on leashes.
  • Experience with dogs of all breeds and sizes is essential.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, animal dander, and waste.
REPORTS TO: General Manager

COMPENSATION: $20/hour DOE plus 15% commission
