Job Description

As a key member of the Bridges Healthcare team, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to oversee the medical and psychiatric care of our child department. This individual will serve as the medical director of the IICAPS program, providing evaluation and treatment to child clients and consultation/training services to Bridges non-medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clinical management to oversee operations of the IICAPS program.
  • Attend IICAPS network meetings as needed.
  • Supervise, coach, and provide guidance to the child and outpatient program medical staff.
  • Serve as a medical consultant in child and adolescent team meetings.
  • Provide direct clinical/medication services to adolescents and children.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
  • Provide clinical leadership to staff and consultation to non-medical staff.
  • Ensure coordination of client medical care.
  • Collaborate with the fiscal department in the development of budgets and forecasts for the child and adolescent medical department.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of working relationships with community agencies, schools, or individuals.
  • Perform any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree from an accredited college or university and a completed residency in psychiatry.
  • Board Certified/eligible in Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
  • Current State of Connecticut medical license and State Controlled Substance Registration and a Federal DEA certificate and Buprenorphine waiver.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Good communication skills and documentation and computer literacy/skills.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric illness and substance abuse.
  • Experience in counseling/therapeutic methods and practices and prescribing medications.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize schedules/demands.
