Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Polymer Scientist to contribute to our Advanced Materials Solutions (AMS) division, which specializes in innovation acceleration, ecosystem scouting, and the development of core adhesive technologies, coatings, and novel film chemistry.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Design and conduct experiments to synthesize polymers and coatings using various techniques, including free-radical, condensation, thermal, actinic, and controlled architecture.
  • Develop and optimize adhesive formulations tailored for specific industrial applications, focusing on electrical conductivity, dielectric properties, adhesion strength, thermal stability, and environmental compatibility.
  • Characterize polymers and adhesives using relevant analytical techniques and testing methods.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements and market trends, guiding research directions accordingly.
  • Lead project teams in basic research and customer-driven R&D for conductive and electronic materials, developing comprehensive technical project plans.
  • Act as a liaison for patent-related activities, collaborating with corporate counsel on patent applications and office actions.
  • Transfer knowledge to colleagues through presentations and technical reports, mentoring junior staff in polymerization technology and formulation.
  • Represent the organization as the primary technical contact on projects, engaging with senior external personnel on significant technical matters.
  • Participate actively in process safety management and employee safety programs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives regarding raw material selection and process modifications.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Polymer Science; alternatively, a BS/MS with relevant experience in polymer design and synthesis.
  • A minimum of 2 years of R&D experience in polymerization.
  • Experience in developing electrically conductive polymer systems, including the incorporation of conductive fillers into polymer matrices.
  • Knowledge of high dielectric polymeric materials and composites.
  • Exposure to soft polymer materials and acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of polymer characterization and analytical testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proven track record of implementing innovative technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A creative mindset that fosters innovation while ensuring project progress and laboratory productivity.
