Position Overview:The Utilities Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of all plant utility systems and assets, which encompass boilers, steam supply, compressed air systems, water utilities, process chillers, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.
This position involves close collaboration with maintenance teams to provide hands-on support and advanced troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the technical lead for all plant utility systems, offering advanced troubleshooting and support as required.
- Drive improvements through the execution of reliability and capital projects.
- Standardize and implement situational awareness tools to monitor plant utilities effectively.
- Oversee local vendors and contractors that support plant utility operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage preventative maintenance activities related to utility systems.
The ideal candidate will possess a professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- A degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or 10 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in plant maintenance and equipment reliability.
- Proficient knowledge of industrial utility systems, including boilers, compressors, and chillers.
- Hands-on experience with plant utility systems.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) such as Tridium, Honeywell, or Niagara.
- Ability to analyze utility trends for troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience in reading schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, and P&IDs.
- Preferred experience in PLC programming and capital project management.
- Capability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Candidates should be prepared for the following physical requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Willingness to reach and bend as necessary to service equipment.
- Exposure to industrial hazards associated with plant utility systems.
