Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all building-related systems and ensuring the safety of hotel guests, associates, and vendors. This is a key role that requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Assume control of the Engineering Department when the Chief Engineer is unavailable.
- Understand and maintain all building-related systems and equipment, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, IT, and kitchen systems.
- Follow company preventative maintenance procedures and guidelines to ensure the efficient operation of guestrooms, equipment, public spaces, grounds, and landscaping.
- Maintain engineering-related accounting procedures to ensure the department operates within budgeted guidelines.
- Interview, hire, train, and recommend performance evaluations for engineering staff.
- Effectively supervise, train, and assign tasks to engineering staff to ensure maximum productivity.
- Understand and maintain engineering records and filing systems to support budgeting, capital projects, and life safety systems.
- Monitor and maintain all engineering spaces in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Tour the hotel complex daily to identify items requiring engineering, housekeeping, or other departmental actions.
- Provide training and expertise on life safety-related items to all managers.
- Understand and maintain all brand-related issues and procedures.
- College degree or courses in engineering-related fields preferred.
- Vocational schooling, military training, certification, and/or experience in building-related trades required in one or more areas, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable location.
- Hotel experience preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, and budget forecasting.
- Ability to motivate and develop staff, set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
