Job Description

The American SpiralWeld Pipe Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Machine Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our spiral weld pipe manufacturing equipment, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review work orders and take direction from the leadership team to determine production priorities and schedules.
  • Assist in the setup and operation of machinery, ensuring all positions are checked and ready to start.
  • Monitor and correct problems that arise during production, ensuring the machine is kept running smoothly.
  • Verify the quality of alignment and weld process, pipe specifications, cement lining, and coating application.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to machinery and equipment, referring electrical and hydraulic problems to the maintenance department.
  • Develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and bring safety issues to the attention of department leadership or the safety manager.
  • Follow all work procedures, policies, and protocols.
Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret simple documents and instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations to employees and members of leadership.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to compute ratio and percent and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must be able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to operate a computer-controlled hydrostatic test stand, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges, and using the control console to conduct tests.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Must have the willingness to rotate to different positions as requested by the manager or team leader.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of welding processes.
  • Experience as a welder.
Essential Physical Functions:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
