Job Overview

Harvard University seeks a Senior Data Engineer to join our Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning (VPAL) team. As a key member of our technology group, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our learning platforms, ensuring seamless data integration, and driving business value through data-driven insights.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of our learning platforms. You will work closely with our internal stakeholders to understand their needs and develop innovative solutions that meet their requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable software systems to support our learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources and provide actionable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure seamless data integration and high-quality data.
  • Work with our data scientists to develop and deploy machine learning models that drive business value.
  • Lead the development of new features and functionality to enhance our learning platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and data engineering.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable software systems.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts and experience with data integration tools (e.g., Apache Beam, Apache Spark).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

What We Offer

Harvard University offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 403(b) retirement plan. Additionally, we offer a generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
