  • Encourage and model conduct that aligns with Nucor's vision and values.
  • Collaborate with fellow leads and supervisors to establish daily work assignments that optimize shift productivity.
  • Oversee all team members' safety and maintain shop cleanliness while achieving production quality and quantity targets.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to uphold the highest safety standards.
  • Assist leads in assigning mentors and training team members in the safe and effective operation of assigned equipment.
  • Share responsibility for team safety, shop cleanliness, and meeting production standards.
  • Assess and allocate daily workloads to the team.

Accountable for all departmental operations, including:

  • Operating shearing machines for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
  • Utilizing bending machines to shape reinforcing steel bars.
  • Using forklifts for moving, assembling, and selecting materials for fabrication or shipment.
  • Employing overhead cranes for material handling.
  • Managing grit blasters and powder coating booths for cleaning and coating bars.
  • Applying epoxy touch-up paint with power spray guns.
  • Utilizing various hand tools to facilitate the fabrication process.
  • Maintaining open communication with supervisors and other department leads.
  • Troubleshooting production issues to minimize delays and ensure safe, efficient equipment operation.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of all departmental equipment.
  • Conducting quality control checks through routine inspections to ensure accurate fabrication and timely task completion.
  • Monitoring inventory needs and assisting in the ordering process.
  • Overseeing departmental maintenance requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Gathering necessary data for production reports, timesheets, and incentive calculations as required by supervisors.
  • Efficiently operating computer systems as needed.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Providing limited operational assistance to ensure efficient shift work completion.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least three years of experience in the rebar fabrication industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with branch software programs, including Navision, Dayforce, and aSa.
  • Understanding of branch production workflows.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Industrial Safety Standards.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Crane Trainer certification.
  • Able to operate all departmental equipment effectively.
