Position OverviewThe Global Financial Control Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting Northern Trust's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive reviews across various departments to identify key risks and controls within the operational functions.
- Develop and implement testing procedures, document findings clearly, and evaluate outcomes to assess the effectiveness of controls and the overall control environment.
- Engage in critical thinking and take initiative to investigate inherent risks, emerging guidelines, and relevant issues pertaining to processes and controls, proposing enhancements as necessary.
- Identify and assess potential sources of error in significant processes.
- Design and deliver training sessions for stakeholders.
- Exhibit professional skepticism and a willingness to question existing processes to facilitate improvements.
- Work independently, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the function.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing comprehensive consulting and leadership to teams and partners at a high technical level.
- Manage activities that are extensive in scope, cross-functional, and technically challenging.
- Engage directly with various committees and management.
- Strategically develop, implement, and oversee programs within functional areas.
- Utilize knowledge of different corporate units to ensure that operations, services, and systems maintain appropriate controls.
- Apply analytical skills to review data and identify potential control weaknesses.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Methodology and adhere to all relevant departmental standards.
- Stay informed on SOX/SOC/CCAR regulations and industry changes.
- Demonstrate the ability to meet strict deadlines, manage multiple projects, and perform under pressure during peak periods.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a Global Financial Control team operating across multiple time zones and jurisdictions.
- Highly adaptable and flexible in response to change.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred.
- A Master's degree in accounting or finance is advantageous.
- Certification as a Public Accountant or Internal Auditor is a plus.
