Role of the Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician (PCT/CCHT) plays a vital role in assisting patients with end-stage renal disease, working closely with clinical staff throughout the dialysis treatment process to ensure the delivery of prescribed therapies. Our PCTs are essential members of the interdisciplinary team, committed to providing safe care and achieving the highest quality outcomes for every patient.
Schedule: This is a float position; Full-time, four 10-hour shifts starting at 4:30 AM; weekends off; no overnight shifts.
Compensation: Pay ranges from $15 to $23 per hour, based on healthcare experience; prior experience is not mandatory. Mileage reimbursement is available for float positions.

Responsibilities
What You Can Expect:
- Actively engage in infection control, risk management, and patient education initiatives
- Guide new patients through a comprehensive 120-day education plan
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and machine readings during treatments
- Work under the supervision of registered nurses
- Set up and dismantle dialysis blood systems for treatment
- Insert and remove patient access needles
- Observe patients during dialysis, document any changes, and communicate concerns to the charge nurse
- Calculate patient weight loss to achieve dry weight
- Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly
- Maintain professional relationships while respecting patient privacy and rights
- Manage and track inventory
- Conduct laboratory work as required
Qualifications
Successful Candidates Bring:

Education/Training:
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred but not essential
- CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT, and/or phlebotomy skills are advantageous
- DCI offers a comprehensive 3-month training program, including classroom sessions and one-on-one skills training
- Dialysis experience is not necessary; job shadowing opportunities are available
