Purpose/Summary
An Electroplating Operations Supervisor ensures that production processes run smoothly and efficiently by overseeing personnel and coordinating workflows. This role requires a deep understanding of intricate operations and the ability to enhance daily activities while controlling costs. The primary objective is to guarantee that plating operations yield high-quality products in a safe and economically viable manner.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implementing safety regulations and procedures to minimize the risk of workplace injuries.
- Upholding quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction with products.
- Facilitating open communication among staff, management, and human resources.
- Supervising the on-the-job training of new employees and transfers.
- Ensuring compliance with standardized work practices.
- Reporting workplace injuries to the relevant department or manager.
- Verifying that all production lines operate within specified parameters.
- Ensuring that all corrective actions are executed according to laboratory recommendations.
- Conducting daily meetings with team members for updates and planning.
- Regularly inspecting all production lines at least twice per shift, as well as on an as-needed basis.
- Ensuring that waste treatment processes are adequately managed and that necessary chemicals are available.
- Addressing specific operational challenges on the production floor.
- Completing NASF Plating Essentials training within the designated timeframe.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- An Associate's degree or higher is advantageous.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The following skills and abilities are essential:
- Capability to develop and adhere to schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to accountability for plant operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word).
- Experience with QAD software is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role involves direct supervisory responsibilities, providing guidance and direction to the team to ensure that projects are prioritized and that planning processes are effectively implemented to meet deadlines.
Physical Demands/Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees in this role are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and may occasionally encounter outdoor weather conditions and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment necessitates the use of hearing protection.
