ABOUT ASSET PROTECTION

The Asset Protection (AP) teams are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our guests, team members, and brand, especially during crisis situations. They safeguard profitable sales by minimizing loss risks, preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and fraud to guarantee product availability for our guests.

The role of a Target Security Specialist offers the following opportunities:

  • Develop skills in intelligence-driven strategies to ensure the safety of team members and guests.
  • Gain experience in crisis management, safety protocols, and crowd control, providing assistance to both guests and team members.
  • Acquire skills in conflict resolution and experience in recovering stolen goods to mitigate loss.
  • Utilize Target's surveillance technology effectively.
  • Document incidents accurately using industry-standard case management systems.

Typical responsibilities of a Target Security Specialist include:

  • Enhance sales by greeting and assisting guests and team members at the store entrance and throughout the sales floor; aid guests in locating products both in-store and online.
  • Foster a culture of physical security for team members and guests by assessing and upholding safety standards throughout the store, including the surrounding property.
  • Respond to and meticulously document security incidents.
  • Utilize escalation tools for guest-related issues to maintain a secure environment for all.
  • Conduct effective merchandise recoveries and provide apprehension support as necessary, strictly following AP policies and procedures.
  • Prevent theft and loss at the store entrance by performing receipt checks on high-value merchandise.
  • Submit proper documentation for all incidents in accordance with AP policies.
  • Understand and utilize the video surveillance system appropriately.
  • Train team members on merchandise protection strategies and audit execution.
  • Educate team members on operational loss prevention opportunities as directed by AP leadership.
  • Implement loss prevention action plans established by AP leadership to reduce loss in targeted areas.
  • Model safe working practices while maintaining a clean environment for guests and team members.
  • Deliver service and a shopping experience that fulfills guest needs.
  • Uphold a culture of ethical behavior, safety, and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
