Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc. The ideal candidate will be flexible with work hours, dependable, accountable, and cooperative. As a Radiology Technologist, you will assist in providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing exams according to department procedures. You will have the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study, utilizing equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The successful candidate will be able to independently perform job functions, set up equipment, and position patients for procedures.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Equipment:
• Demonstrate the ability to adjust technique to minimize patient radiation exposure while maintaining image quality.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisors or service providers for timely correction.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment according to infection control policy and department schedule.
• Operate all aspects of the system and radiographic equipment safely and competently.
Patient Care:
• Obtain complete clinical history, gather examination data, and assess for contraindicating conditions.
• Follow established procedures for contrast media administration to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Verify patient identification and use right and left markers appropriately.
• Review radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and release patients.
Education and Communication:
• Clearly explain exam purposes and procedures to patients, minimizing anxiety and facilitating cooperation.
• Ensure patient questions and concerns are addressed, notifying physicians when necessary.
• Participate in departmental employee orientation and training.
• Provide preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures to patients.
Quality Control:
• Consistently produce high-quality images, including proper collimation, shielding, technique selection, penetration, and positioning.
• Ensure equipment is fully operational before use, checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies.
• Send studies to PACS, print CDs as necessary, and complete exams in RIS.
Operations:
• Restock linens and supplies, maintaining a clean and orderly Diagnostic Imaging Services environment.
• Transport patients, position them, and assist with procedure table use.
• Perform patient charging activities on the day of service rendered.
• Apply shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices and equipment as needed.
Requirements:
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current certifications in ARRT Radiography and Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor.
• Less than 1 year of experience, with a maximum of 5 years of experience within the past 7 years.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to function independently and under pressure while participating in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and interact professionally with various customers, including patients, families, coworkers, volunteers, and physicians.
