Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Practice
  • Provide comprehensive, quality nursing care through the application of the nursing process.
  • Adhere to Nursing Policies and Procedures and Organizational Goals and Objectives.
Communication
  • Use effective communication during hand-offs.
  • Organize information into a meaningful format, such as SBAR.
  • Delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel and team members.
  • Communicate patient care information to the interdisciplinary care team.
Documentation
  • Document patient care in an accurate, professional, and timely manner using Soarian, MAK, and paper documentation forms according to policy and procedure.
Professional Role Development
  • Develop own nursing knowledge via practice, observation, professional literature, networking, and attending continuing education programs.
  • Promote best practice by demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care and the profession of nursing.
  • Promote innovation and creativity in the practice environment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new employees.
  • Mentor student nurses.
Department of Nursing and Organization Support
  • Attend assigned committee meetings and contribute to the committees.
  • Communicate support of organizational values and strategies.
  • Support the following organizational programs: Magnet, Hospital of Distinction, Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification, Nursing Councils, and integrate their standards into clinical practice.
Departmental Support
  • Maintain equipment in working order. Use equipment appropriately, follow Department policies for equipment and supply use and maintenance.
  • Perform assigned duties to maintain unit in a state of survey readiness and maintain quality initiatives.
Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Experience preferred, however training and specialty-specific education programs are provided during orientation, and must be successfully completed as scheduled.

Basic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training for CCH computer programs. Ability to practice critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Must successfully complete the chemotherapy course and become certified to administer chemotherapy within 2 years of hire. Must also successfully pass the annual chemotherapy competency assessment.

Current Pennsylvania RN License. BLS & ACLS Required. CPR certification required. Certification in clinical specialty is preferred. Must meet specialty-specific competency requirements.
