We are seeking a highly skilled Library Media Specialist to join our team at the Baltimore City Public School System. Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Assess and maintain a diverse collection of library-based information sources to support student learning and academic achievement.

    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library and multi-media resources into the curriculum.
  • Leadership and Administration
    • Supervise and mentor instructional assistants and parent volunteers to support the library program.
    • Manage the library's budget and resources to ensure effective use of materials and technology.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the library is a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
  • Instructional Support
    • Provide instructional support to teachers and students to develop information literacy skills and promote critical thinking and research skills.
    • Develop and implement instructional programs to support the school's curriculum and instructional goals.
    • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement technology-enhanced instructional programs.
  • Technology and Information Services
    • Provide technical support and training to teachers and staff to ensure effective use of technology in the library and classrooms.
    • Develop and implement a plan to ensure the library's technology infrastructure is up-to-date and functional.
    • Collaborate with the school's technology department to ensure seamless integration of library and technology resources.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Masters degree in Library Science or related field.
    • Eligible for a Maryland Educator certificate as Library Media Specialist.
  • Skills and Experience
    • Strong leadership and administrative skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students to develop and implement instructional programs.
    • Experience with technology integration and instructional design.
