Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Missile Defense Systems Modeling and Analysis Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading complex, multi-disciplinary analyses and developing innovative concepts and algorithms to improve US capabilities in missile defense.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead teams in modeling, analyzing, and developing missile defense systems using MATLAB
  • Model and analyze fielded and conceptual systems to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and propose innovative concepts and algorithms to enhance US capabilities
  • Communicate technical recommendations to APL leadership, government sponsors, and the engineering community through effective presentations
  • Contribute to a dynamic group culture that upholds core values of collaboration, innovation, and risk-taking
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a professional engineering setting with a Department of Defense focus
  • Proven experience in leading complex, multi-disciplinary analyses
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, including object-oriented programming, for modeling and simulation, analysis, and visualization
  • Proficiency in version control software for developing MATLAB simulations in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance and ultimately a Top Secret level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Domain knowledge of Missile Defense Agency, Navy, and Army sensors, battle management systems, and kinetic and non-kinetic defeat capabilities
  • Proficiency in MATLAB for developing event-driven simulations
  • Top Secret or higher clearance
