Position Summary

We seek an accomplished Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead our opto-mechanical design and development efforts.

Annual Salary: $125,000 - 163,000About the Job

You will work collaboratively with our cross-functional team to design, develop, and test advanced quantum technology systems, applying your expertise in opto-mechanical design, precision alignment, and system analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and physicists to synthesize requirements and lead design, assembly, and testing cycles for complex opto-mechanical systems.
  • Develop systems for extreme environments, ensuring precise optical alignments and performance under varied conditions.
  • Analyze system performance using FEA and/or optical ray tracing simulations, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Establish detailed procedures for characterizing, manufacturing, assembling, and aligning sub-systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers, promoting standardized designs and efficient processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, optical, or relevant engineering discipline, with at least 6 years of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and GD&T drawing practices.
  • Fundamental knowledge of laser beams, optics, and fixturing techniques.
  • Experience with optical test equipment, including power meters, polarimeters, and beam profilers.
  • Strong systems engineering skills, with ability to gather requirements from technical stakeholders.
