Budget Analyst Senior Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Budget Analyst Senior to join our team at Foothill De Anza Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the District's annual operating budget, performing complex professional accounting duties, and providing technical and functional direction to other department staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain the District's annual operating budget, monitoring and updating it on an ongoing basis.
  • Perform a full range of complex professional accounting duties, including reviewing, analyzing, auditing, reconciling, and maintaining assigned funds, budgets, and accounts.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements and accounting reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries.
  • Reconcile various fiscal statements to ensure accurate fund accounting, and provide technical and functional direction to other department staff.
  • Conduct research projects, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare effective technical staff reports.
  • Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record keeping, and tracking systems, and use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
Requirements:
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
  • Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, or directly related field AND three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting or budget analysis experience.
Working Conditions:

Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
