Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Laboratory Director to lead our laboratory operations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.


The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory management, with experience in quality assurance, statistical quality control, and laboratory regulations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct laboratory operations to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with regulations.
  • Make rounds in the laboratory to assess effectiveness, personnel utilization, and overall atmosphere.
  • Secure and maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies to support effective patient care.
  • Develop and implement improved laboratory methods and services.
  • Manage the laboratory budget and fiscal operations.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Interact professionally with patients and families.
  • Consult with other departments to collaborate on patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Establish and maintain laboratory standards and ensure competency and licensure of personnel.
  • Coordinate in-service training and communicate administrative directives.
  • Promote effective intradepartmental relationships.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce laboratory procedures and policies in accordance with CLIA, COLA, and DNV regulations.
  • Participate in hospital committees and contribute to safety and preparedness planning.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate performance improvement and CQI activities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent.
  • Current state licensure as required by the state in which practicing.
  • Qualification as Lab Director and Technical Consultant in a moderately complex lab as defined by CLIA '88.
  • 5+ years' experience working in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory environment with Quality Assurance, statistical Quality Control, and laboratory regulations/accreditation requirements.
