Job Description

Job Overview

Tufts Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician III to join our team. This role is responsible for providing medical and clinical support services to patients in the Surgical Services setting. The successful candidate will work closely with physicians and registered nurses to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with surgical procedures, including setting up procedure rooms and preparing surgical equipment.
  • Provide patient care and support, including obtaining vital signs and connecting patients to monitoring equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Two years of operating room experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a Surgical Technologist program.
  • Three years of same-day, orthopedic, endoscopy, LASIK, or other relevant surgical experience.
  • Specialty certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood, and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to lift and position patients, materials, equipment, and power tools.
  • Ability to wear a protective lead apron for extended periods.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, patients, physicians, vendors, and other departments within the hospital.
