About the Role:

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and system components, including HVAC, pumps, and compressors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, and compressors
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, pumps, and compressor equipment
  • Responsible for cleanliness of mechanical rooms
  • Perform minor plumbing, heating, and electrical-related work not requiring a license
  • Respond to routine maintenance and emergency calls

Requirements:

  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in the HVAC, pumps, and compressor and or mechanical trades
  • A valid Class D Driver's License; based on assignment, a valid Class B License or a valid CDL License with appropriate endorsements may be required
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the following construction and repair trades: HVAC, pumps, and compressors
  • Considerable knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and standard practices used in the HVAC, pumps, and compressors trades

Working Conditions:

This is a maintenance function which includes overtime, returning to work between shifts when directed or called. It is your responsibility to update the service desk with your current phone number. May be required to work mandatory overtime during special events (commencement, move in etc.). Will be required to work over night shifts when required (1 to 2 times a year).
