POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fire Suppression Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire extinguishers, pre-engineered suppression systems, and fire alarm & security systems, operating with minimal oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize necessary tools and testing equipment, including power machines, groovers, cutters, and lifts, to service or replace components of fire extinguishers and suppression systems.
- Possess a thorough understanding of NFPA codes, standards, and various fire safety systems.
- Diagnose and rectify issues with pre-engineered suppression systems.
- Repair or substitute damaged parts of fire extinguishers and alarm systems.
- Engage with clients and colleagues in a professional manner.
- Maintain punctuality at work sites and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Employ Field Service Lightning for tracking work orders, materials, and job duration.
- Document all service activities accurately.
- Adhere to the company’s safety protocols, including understanding safety documentation for each project.
- Ensure the company vehicle is clean and well-maintained according to company standards.
- Be available for on-call status to respond to emergency service requests as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and seminars to stay updated on technology and regulatory changes.
- Mentor and train junior technicians in relevant job functions.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications outlined below are representative of the skills and experience required to perform this role effectively. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may also be considered.
Education and Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- State or relevant certification is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- A minimum of 2 years in the Fire Life Safety Industry, specifically in Fire Suppression.
- Proficient computer skills for at least 2 years.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with colleagues and clients.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
- Compliance with the company’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, climb, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand or walk for extended periods. Vision capabilities must include the ability to see in color and at various distances.
Work Environment:
Employees may be required to work outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions, as well as indoors in an office setting. Adherence to safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory.
