Position Overview:

The Finance and Business Director will oversee and manage all financial operations within the educational framework, ensuring the effective allocation and utilization of resources.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct and manage all financial functions including budgeting, accounting, payroll, and financial reporting.
2. Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop operational and long-term budgets that align with the district's educational objectives.
3. Maintain comprehensive records to safeguard district funds and ensure accountability of all assets.
4. Supervise the activity fund accounts, ensuring proper procedures for receipts and expenditures are followed.
5. Conduct annual audits and prepare necessary reports for state and federal compliance.
6. Provide leadership for the financial audit process and oversee employee insurance programs.
7. Manage the reporting of claims related to workers' compensation and unemployment.
8. Oversee the budget development process for Federal and State grants, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines.
9. Assist in labor contract negotiations by providing essential financial data to the negotiating team.
10. Attend board meetings to present financial reports and updates.
11. Supervise Business Office personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Willingness to obtain the Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fund accounting or school/government audits.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in computerized financial accounting systems.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and analytical skills.
- High level of integrity and dependability.
