The Caton Companies is seeking a skilled Grade Foreman to lead a crew in safely and efficiently performing mass earthwork and excavating activities for our roadway construction project in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

**Job Summary**
The Grade Foreman is a field position responsible for organizing and leading a crew to achieve project goals. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Superintendent and be responsible for coordinating construction work, planning and leading grading crews, and ensuring labor and resources are adequate.

**Key Responsibilities**
• Coordinate construction work according to priorities and plans
• Plan, organize, and lead grading crews
• Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew members
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Schedule aggregate material quantities and deliveries
• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
• Ensure labor and other resources are adequate
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
• Resolve problems when they arise
• Report on progress to managers and engineers

**Work Environment**
This is a full-time position with normal days and hours of work being Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch. Work may be local or out-of-town, requiring overnight stays. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

**Travel and Driving**
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. A driver's license is required.

**Supervisory Responsibility**
The successful candidate will be responsible for assigning work to subordinates, establishing deadlines, and modifying work schedules as needed.

**Required Education and Experience**
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a construction foreman
• Diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter, etc.) a plus
