Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Wilmington Treatment Center, a premier substance abuse recovery hospital and rehabilitation center located in Wilmington, NC. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and implementing expressive therapy, leisure, and social activities for patients to ensure their needs are addressed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement therapeutic activities, such as exercise, games, and community outings, to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
  • Conduct sessions to instruct patients in activities and techniques designed to meet their specific needs.
  • Assess patient needs through observations, medical records, tests, and discussions with other healthcare professionals, patient family, and patient.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic activities and provide support and guidance as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or other recreation-based field.
  • Three or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility.
  • Current NC LRT license.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work well with male and female adult (18+) patients with Chemical dependency and Mental Health disorders.
  • CPR and CPI certification (training offered onsite).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as a Recreation Therapist in a healthcare setting.
  • CTRS certification.
