Job Title: Educational Interpreter at Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona
Job Overview: The role involves delivering interpreting services for various stakeholders including the Board of Directors, Superintendent, agency personnel, and students. The interpreting tasks will cover a range of settings and subjects such as educational meetings (IEP/MET), training sessions (covering best practices, IDEA, etc.), parent conferences, agency-sponsored community events, professional development workshops, and extracurricular activities for students. Additionally, it may involve interpreting for video or online media and public relations, as well as reciprocal interpreting with other state agencies.
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential requirements for evening and weekend work, along with travel across the state.
This position may also entail the management and coordination of interpreting services (such as CART/RTC) in the absence of a lead interpreter.
Remote work opportunities may be available within the state, contingent upon departmental needs and consistent performance metrics.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Understanding of the RID Code of Professional Conduct (CPC) and ethics for interpreters
- Proficiency in non-verbal communication techniques, including body language, gestures, cues, and facial expressions
- Familiarity with office practices, procedures, and relevant software (particularly Microsoft and Google applications)
- Knowledge of ADA and other pertinent community resources
Pre-Employment Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid RID/NAD/BEI certification, including any variations such as CSC, CI, CT, CDI, SC:L, NIC, or BEI
- Holding a valid Arizona State Interpreter License, including Legal or Generalist levels
- Ability to pass FBI and State background checks or obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card as mandated by policy or statute
