Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join our team at USCRI. As a key member of our Immigration Department, you will be responsible for managing certain programs, supervising attorneys and legal assistants, and maintaining a small caseload of clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Provide regular oversight and management assistance to designated programs and personnel throughout USCRI's Legal Department.
  • Reporting and Data Submission: Gather and submit report data for programs to the appropriate funder/agency.
  • Client Intake and Consultations: Conduct intakes and provide legal consultations to determine eligibility for legal relief.
  • Immigration Application Preparation: Prepare and submit immigration applications for various types of relief, including family reunification petitions, consular processing, temporary protected status, and more.
  • Client Representation: Represent a small caseload of clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Grant Development and Reporting: Assist in the development of grants or contract proposals and reporting.
  • Outreach and Training: Conduct outreach, lead trainings, and participate in networking activities.
  • Continuing Education: Maintain bar membership through continuing legal education.
Requirements
  • Education: J.D. with a valid license to practice law.
  • Experience: At least three to five years of immigration legal representation and program management experience.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing and demonstrated intercultural communication ability. High-level proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility for occasional evening and community-based work required.
  • Teamwork: Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team and also work independently.
Training and Development
  • USCRI Orientation and Training: Satisfactory completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training.
  • Additional Training: Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
Physical Demands
  • Manual Dexterity: Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Prolonged Sitting and Standing: Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
