Summary:

At EMCOR Group, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on meeting the unique needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel. All field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, and more. The focus of this position will be to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, conforming to local building codes.

Responsibilities include smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete structures, operating Skid steer, backhoes, and mini excavators, and performing construction duties in Heavy Commercial and Industrial environments. Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers' needs and will be expected in this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
  2. Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
  3. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.
  4. Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
  5. Erects framework for structures; erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
  6. Reviews and compares differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
  7. Performs work overhead, beneath structure, and from various other positions as required by working conditions.
  8. Spreads concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using float to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
  9. Levels, smooths, and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed.
  10. Finishes concrete surfaces, using power trowel, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
  11. Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
  12. Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  13. Produces rough concrete surface, using broom.
  14. Mixes cement, using hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
  15. Directs sub grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
  16. Reports accidents, near misses, and injuries to office supervision and actively cooperates with investigations.
  17. Compiles operational and personnel data, such as time worked, jobs worked, inventory data, equipment used, repair and maintenance information.
  18. Reports to office supervision concerns with employees' work-related issues and provides mentoring to employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  19. Conducts on the job training or arranges for worker training in safety or equipment use.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversees the daily work assignments of a crew of one to 12 employees. Reports out to office supervision the performance of the crew in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints/resolving problems and/or reporting those to office supervision for assistance.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
