Job Summary

Futaba Indiana of America is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of metal stamping dies, molds, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and understand blueprints and schematics to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create designs and programs to machine details.
  • Inspect completed tools and dies for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality.
  • Regularly test all equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are arranged and set properly and working efficiently.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely and accurately operate all measuring and production equipment.
  • Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
  • Thorough understanding of metallic properties.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software (Mastercam).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically performed in both a machine shop and production environment, including some weekend work. The individual must be able to use a variety of tools and equipment, including computer terminals, copy machines, calculators, machinist tools, grinders, welders, and various hand tools.

The noise level is moderate, and the individual must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the production floor.

Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 27 pounds - must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Physical Sight - Able to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen.
  • Verbal & Written Communications - Able to efficiently present complex matters to audience with little technical knowledge and to executive management.
  • Telephone Communications - Able to communicate verbally using a telephone.
  • Multitasking - Able to manage multiple work projects simultaneously.
