Job Summary

McDowell Center for Children, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services (UHS), is seeking a dynamic and talented Mental Health Tech/Transportator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our adolescent patients.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and control all movement, activity, and services of patients while transporting them.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment while on duty.
  • Effectively communicate with the next shift regarding the status of all patients.
  • Collaborate with licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and other staff members to provide comprehensive care.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma required.
  • One-year experience working with a psychiatric resident population preferred.
  • Good driving record.
  • Valid Tennessee driver license.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.
Working Conditions

Exposure to psychiatric residents who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids, and other hazardous waste. General residential treatment center environment while on McDowell Center property, typical traffic conditions while performing transport duties.
