Position Overview

Snacks Buyer

Compensation: $70K - $90K Plus Bonus and Benefits.

Onsite Work Required at Corporate Office.

Carrie Rikon & Associates, LLC is seeking a dedicated Snacks Buyer responsible for the effective sourcing and timely distribution of snack products. This role collaborates closely with the Senior Director of Purchasing and Senior Buyers to meet the company's objectives. The Snacks Buyer will manage supply chain and inventory for promotional categories while ensuring financial accountability in procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure products to align with anticipated demand.
  • Negotiate optimal pricing, quality, and service levels consistently.
  • Ensure compliance with established procurement policies and procedures.
  • Aim to achieve inventory turnover goals while maintaining service levels and minimizing excess stock.

Work collaboratively with various departments and personnel to fulfill job responsibilities. Build and sustain positive relationships with vendors, store operations, distribution centers, and internal teams.

  • Evaluate acquisition costs to ensure purchases are made at competitive prices while considering quality and reliability.
  • Analyze current inventory and market trends to forecast order quantities and provide insights to the merchandising team.
  • Conduct reviews and analyses post-promotions to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Address inventory discrepancies at the store level due to allocation or ordering issues.
  • Monitor daily and weekly reports to track costs, quality, service levels, inventory turnover, and any distress, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Visit stores as required to oversee programs, gather feedback, and evaluate implementation effectiveness.
  • Manage Accounts Payable variance processes for sourced items to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Resolve billing inquiries by investigating discrepancies reported at the store level.
  • Maintain comprehensive department records and files.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse Operations to ensure efficient product flow.
  • Utilize remote access for procurement systems when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Purchasing or Vendor Management within the industry or retail; experience in grocery, candy, or beverages is advantageous.
  • Preferred background in Marketing/Logistics or a solid understanding of store operations and merchandising practices.
  • Knowledge of grocery procurement, logistics, inventory management, marketing, accounting, and financial management.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Effective planning and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills for developing business relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Able to maintain focus and productivity amidst frequent interruptions.
