Carrie Rikon & Associates, LLC is seeking a skilled Snacks Buyer to oversee the effective procurement and timely distribution of snack products. This role involves collaboration with the Senior Director of Purchasing and Senior Buyers to meet organizational objectives. The Snacks Buyer will manage supply chain operations and inventory for promotional categories while ensuring financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure products to align with anticipated demand.
- Negotiate optimal product costs, quality, and service consistently.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures diligently.
- Aim to achieve inventory turnover goals while maintaining service levels and minimizing excess stock.
Engage with various departments and personnel to fulfill job responsibilities effectively. Build and sustain positive relationships with vendors, store operations, and distribution center staff.
- Evaluate acquisition costs to ensure purchases are made at the best possible price while considering quality and reliability.
- Analyze current inventory and market trends to forecast order quantities and advise the merchandising team.
- Conduct post-promotional evaluations to assess if promotional goals were met and identify solutions for any issues.
- Address inventory discrepancies at the store level due to allocation or ordering challenges.
- Review daily and weekly reports to monitor costs, quality, service levels, inventory turnover, and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct store visits as required to assess program effectiveness and gather feedback.
- Manage Accounts Payable discrepancies for sourced items to ensure accurate invoicing.
- Resolve billing inquiries by investigating discrepancies reported at the store level.
- Maintain comprehensive department records and files.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Operations to ensure efficient product flow.
- Utilize remote access for procurement systems as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of experience in Purchasing or Vendor Management within the industry or retail; experience in grocery, candy, or beverages is advantageous.
- Preferred background in Marketing/Logistics or a solid understanding of store operations and merchandising practices.
- Knowledge of grocery procurement, logistics, inventory management, marketing, and financial practices.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
- Effective planning and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with interpersonal skills to foster effective business relationships.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Able to maintain focus and manage frequent interruptions.
