We are seeking a highly skilled Senior General Liability Claims Examiner to join our team at C. Winchell Agency, Inc. As a key member of our claims department, you will be responsible for examining, adjusting, and defending general liability claims and lawsuits filed against our insureds.
Key Responsibilities- Examine and investigate general liability claims to determine coverage and liability
- Conduct thorough investigations of claims, including reviewing policy terms, conditions, and exclusions
- Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys
- Review and secure necessary documentation, including medical records and contracts
- Conduct initial investigations by contacting insureds and claimants to gather specifics
- Secure copies of applicable contracts, leases, and certificates of insurance
- Review claimant-documented damages to ensure proper reserves are placed
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience handling premises liability claims
- Experience handling liability claims in the state of New York
- In-depth knowledge of tort/insurance law in the jurisdiction
- Knowledge of how to properly investigate and prepare claims and lawsuits for trial
- Professional Designations - AIC, CPCU, SCLA preferred
- Well-versed in Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage forms
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 required
- Experience with ImageRight and WINS a plus
