Job Summary

Stability Direct is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in an inpatient setting. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer all forms of respiratory care and treatment to patients, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications.
  • Monitor patients' oxygen saturation, end tidal CO2, and blood gas levels, and adjust therapy as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education on respiratory equipment and services, as well as infection control practices and smoking cessation programs.
  • Assist with discharge planning and ensure a smooth transition of care for patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to modify therapy and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and communicate with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Document patient care and therapy in the electronic medical record, including IPOC, Respiratory Plan of Care, and Interdisciplinary Notes.
  • Perform routine surveillance and equipment inspection to ensure proper use and functioning of respiratory equipment.
  • Process reusable respiratory equipment, including ventilator cassettes, laryngoscope handles and blades, and deliver to Central Supply for sterilization.
  • Assist with bedside bronchoscopies and pulmonary function screening.
  • Perform arterial blood gas punctures and analysis, and communicate results to the primary healthcare provider.
  • Participate in emergency intubation, tracheostomy tube changes, and Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams.
  • Perform specialty gas therapy, such as heliox therapy, as requested.
  • Complete departmental documentation and paperwork, including computer entries and patient charges.
  • Ensure complete verbal report to incoming shift regarding all patients receiving respiratory care services.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the State of New Jersey.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC credential, or eligible.
  • BCLS and ACLS certification within 1 year.
  • Experience in an inpatient setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of respiratory care principles and practices, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications.
  • Ability to lift and move patients, as well as push and pull heavy equipment.
