To maintain the high standards of service we strive for, we have established the following job outline for this role.
Work Schedule: The successful candidate will be expected to work a standard forty-hour week, with flexibility in scheduling to ensure optimal service delivery. Employees will work no more than five days per week. Familiarity with computer systems and the ability to learn the necessary software programs is essential for this position. Specifics regarding hours, compensation, and benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.
PRIMARY ROLE: Under the guidance of the Supervisor, the X-Ray Technician will facilitate efficient patient flow within the x-ray department and ensure that x-rays are conducted effectively for each patient.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The role is primarily based in the X-Ray Department at Arrowhead Orthopaedics. The X-Ray Technician will handle a high volume of work, maintaining a high standard of quality in all tasks performed. Daily interactions will involve confidential patient information, which must be managed with the utmost privacy, discretion, and professionalism. The responsibilities include:
- Conducting x-ray examinations on patients to assist in diagnosing medical conditions.
- Adhering strictly to physician instructions and regulations regarding radiation safety.
- Preparing patients for procedures by removing jewelry and other items.
- Utilizing ionizing radiation to capture images of anatomical structures for diagnostic purposes.
- Explaining the x-ray process to patients and positioning them correctly for examinations.
- Transporting patients to and from the x-ray department.
- Entering patient information into the DR VXvue imaging system.
- Transmitting digital images from the DR VXvue system to the ramsoft PACS for review and archiving.
- Creating CDs of images for patients to take to other healthcare facilities.
- Ordering necessary supplies for the x-ray department.
- Reviewing patient records in the EMR to ensure accurate diagnostic documentation.
- Generating daily x-ray logs for billing purposes and maintaining records in the department.
- Assisting at the Front Desk as needed.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The X-Ray Technician will maintain the following professional relationships:
- Reporting directly to the Supervisor, the employee will communicate any updates, requests, or concerns regarding job responsibilities.
- Collaborating with other office and clinical staff to foster a collegial and professional work environment.
- Engaging with medical groups and Primary Care Physicians, ensuring all communications reflect a commitment to quality care and patient satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
- Proficiency in operating computers and scanners, along with familiarity with software such as Microsoft Outlook and EMR.
- Strong telephone etiquette and professional communication skills.
- Possession of a California limited digital x-ray license is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and walk, with occasional stooping, reaching, and bending.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Normal hearing range for effective communication.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for operating office equipment.
