- Administrative Duties: Greet patients, collect demographic and insurance information, and update electronic medical records (EMRs) accurately.
- Insurance Verification and Billing: Verify patient insurance coverage, obtain authorizations for procedures or tests, and assist patients with insurance-related inquiries.
- Medical Records Management: Maintain organized and up-to-date medical records, including filing, scanning, and retrieving documents as needed.
- Clinical Duties: Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures or examinations.
- Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy Administration: Perform allergy skin testing and administer allergy immunotherapy injections according to physician orders.
- Patient Education and Support: Educate patients about allergy triggers, avoidance strategies, medication usage, and the purpose of allergy testing and immunotherapy.
- Documentation and Compliance: Document patient assessments, procedures performed, and treatment plans accurately in EMRs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and clinic protocols.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a medical assistant program or certification as an allergy technician may be required or preferred.
- Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) may be required. Additional certification as an Allergy Technician (CMAA) or Certified Clinical Allergy Specialist (CCAS) is desirable.
- Experience: Prior experience in a medical office setting, especially in ENT or allergy clinics, is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, proficiency in EMR systems, and knowledge of medical terminology and allergy testing techniques.
