Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Operator to join our team at Disability Solutions. As a Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a bus over an established route, adhering to predetermined schedules and providing excellent customer service to passengers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a bus and announce stops along routes, ensuring a safe and efficient journey for passengers.
  • Inspect passes and ascertain appropriate fares, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing.
  • Issue and receive transfer cards, collect invalid transfer cards, and receive and return fare-cards, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, responding to inquiries and providing assistance as needed.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections, ensuring the bus is in good working condition and addressing any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Prepare daily trip sheets and bus for service, maintaining accurate records and adhering to company policies.
Requirements
  • Must possess a valid State of Illinois Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a valid State of Illinois CDL permit with the necessary endorsements.
  • Required to submit to and pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a clean driving record.
Working Conditions

As a Bus Operator, you will work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and snow. You will also be exposed to diesel fumes, exhaust, and other environmental factors. It is essential to be physically fit and able to lift, carry, and push objects, as well as stand for extended periods.
